Earn the AKC Virtual Home Manners title. This title assesses ten important skills that well-mannered pet dogs need in the home setting. The skills relate to the dog owner having control over the dog, being able to walk the dog and developing a bond with the dog during playtime.

Enrichment Walk

Does your dog need to burn off some energy mid-day? We can teach your dog a sniffing leash walk or work on focus when around wildlife (squirrels, rabbits, etc.) rather than lunge toward or try to chase small animals. No minimum number of weekly walks are required. Regular walks are also an option without any training.

FOR PUPPIES FROM 8 – 16 WEEKS OLD

Start your puppy out with training as soon as possible. This course focuses on socialization, basic manners, leash manners and life skills. The STAR puppy test will be given at the end of the class for dogs who have attended all 6 weeks.

Puppies must have age-appropriate vaccinations.

FOR PUPPIES FROM 4 – 7 MONTHS OLD

We continue to focus on life skills, basic manners and leash manners in addition to impulse control as the puppies begin to move into adolescence. The STAR Puppy test will be given at the end of class for puppies who did not take the test in the previous class.

Puppies must be up to date on their vaccinations.

FOR PUPPIES FROM 7 – 12 MONTHS OLD OR FOLLOWING ON FROM YOUNGLING & PADAWAN

This course will begin to prepare you for the Canine Good Citizen test and is a lot more focused on calm, well-mannered dogs. This course will require a lot of work from you, as we give you weekly challenges to make sure that everyone works towards an end goal. We focus on leash manners, recall, and the CGC requirements.

FOR KNIGHT/INTERMEDIATE GRADUATES

Demonstrate that your dog has good manners by working toward the Canine Good Citizen test. This course will work primarily on preparing your dog for the Canine Good Citizen test. Calm separation from the owner, a solid “stay” and calm greetings will all be covered in this course.

Dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations.

What’s next after your dog has earned their CGC? Do something fun with your dog. AKC Trick titles (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Performer and Performer Elite) You will learn some tricks that you can use in real life.

AKC FIT DOG (Level 1-30 classes focus on canine fitness, NOT physical therapy or canine rehabilitation. Now more than ever, fitness is important for both dogs and people. The most commonly recommended exercise to improve fitness is walking. Walking is considered a safe activity that improves muscular strength, circulation, memory, weight loss, increases energy, helps with sleep, and reduces stress. Participation in the AKC FIT DOG program will bring health benefits to both you and your dog. Learn the following behaviors in FIT DOG classes (tuck sit, kick back stand, paw target, fold down and more.)

Home School Class for Dogs

Welcome to our Home School for Dogs, where learning meets fun! This engaging program is designed for dogs of all ages and skill levels. Our classes focus on essential behaviors, socialization, and interactive activities.

What to Expect:

– Basic Manners: Teach your dog behaviors like loose leash walking skills, sit, stay, and come, all in a relaxed home environment. Work on potty training and crate training if needed as well.
– Socialization: Provide opportunities for your dog to interact with people, helping to build confidence and good manners.
– Fun Activities: Incorporate games and challenges that stimulate your dog mentally and physically.
– Owner Education: Learn training techniques, understanding canine behavior, and tips for continued success at home.

How it works:

3 individual 1 hour training sessions with your dog at your home each week. 1 meeting/coaching session each week to update the client on what was covered in that week’s sessions. Options of either a 3 or 5 week program. Video and email updates will be provided showing your dogs’ progress. Programs are tailored to each client and dog and the goals of each program will be determined at first meeting. This program is intended for clients who have a busy schedule making it difficult to attend training sessions.

WHAT IS PREDATION SUBSTITUTE TRAINING?

Predation Substitute Training (PST) is a force free comprehensive and successful anti-predation training program consists of four different aspects that are all equally important for the success of you and your dog: Management and Prevention, Predation Substitute Tools, Predation Substitute Games, and the Interruption of Predatory Behavior.

This training method, developed by Simone Mueller, will show you how to control predatory behavior with fun, force-free methods, with amazing results, while also strengthening the dog-human bond.

WHAT IS CARE WITH CONSENT TRAINING?

Care with Consent training focuses on teaching dogs to be comfortable with the handling necessary for veterinary visits and grooming appointments.

This program will focus on teaching your dog to consent to the handling, rather than being completely cooperative. Behaviors covered at “start buttons”, muzzle training, climbing into something, offering a paw for nail trims, holding still for injections, etc.

In Home Training OR Virtual Training

IN HOME TRAINING for 1-to-1 sessions and behavior modification training.

Work on training in the comfort of your own home. I will come to you as long as you are within 20 miles of the 49525 area of Grand Rapids. Each session will be approximatly 1 hour long. You will receive a recap with the written breakdowns of how to teach your dog the behaviors that we cover.

VIRTUAL TRAINING for 1-to-1 sessions and behavior modification training

Virtual training will be one on one over a Zoom meeting. We can schedule the sessions when it is convenient Monday-Thursday and Saturdays, between 11am-7pm. I will record the Zoom session, and will include video demos as part of the session. After each session I’ll send a recap with the written breakdowns of how to teach your dog the behaviors that we covered. You are welcome to send me videos for feedback in between sessions. Practicing in between sessions is important in order to make progress. All dogs can absolutely learn how to make better choices, whether young puppies or adult dogs.
